Sophomores who meet the following criteria are eligible to audition for GSA. The students must
Auditions and portfolio reviews will be held at South Charleston High School February 6 (and the evening of the 5th) for the students who live in the southern and south central parts of the state RESAs I-IV and Wood County). They are scheduled for February 13 and the evening of the 12th at East Fairmont High for the northern counties (RESAs V-VIII).
Although the auditions are set up regionally, students must designate the date they wish to audition on page 1 of the application, since a student may not be available on the day(s) auditions are held in his/her geographical area.
By December 30, letters will be mailed to notify students of the specific time for the audition/portfolio review. If you submit an application and are not notified of your audition date by January 6, contact Mrs. Sherry Keffer, Sherry.L.Keffer@wv.gov for assistance. Do not wait!!! No student will be accepted to the School for the Arts without an audition/review.
...For the Faculty
....All faculty members from GSA 2009 have been invited to return for the 2010 term.
...For the Residential Staff
Interns, resident director and resident assistants
Must have completed two years of college study prior to the beginning of the program (been out of high school for a full two years). As a member of the residential staff, the employee shall mentor students and assist faculty as required; shall plan recreational activities and travel for small groups; shall provide a communications link between the students and faculty; shall serve as role models for GSA participants. The resident director works cooperatively with the dean to arrange student activities. He/she is the supervisor of the resident staff. RA salary: $1500. RD salary: $3,000.
